The successful candidate is expected to have already proven his/her ability to elaborate academic research in physics and mechanics of polymers. He or she must be familiar with the mechanics of materials with knowledge of numerical modelling and with a strong interest in experimental research (linking experimentation/modelling). A good knowledge of the physics and the mechanics of polymers is indispensible. The successful candidate must be able to integrate with a team with studies industrial problems at a fundamental level at the crossroads of physical properties and the mechanics governing constututive modelling.
The successful candidate will develop an independent and creative research programme devoted to these topics, supervise PhD students and publish in the best journals and international conferences.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take part in teaching and supervision of project students at the level of engineering students at Mines ParisTech (Science and Engineering of Materials Option: MMC, MMS, Materials), at the level of MSc by research courses (M2, MSE et Magis, MNE) and at a specialist MSc DMS level. The disciplines concerned are the physics of polymers including the calculation of structures including their failure.
At the time of the appointment, the applicant must have a doctoral degree in physics, materials science or a related subject. As the position implies cooperation with international partners, strong social skills as well as a good knowledge of the English language are required. Post-doctoral experience in a foreign laboratory would be an asset for this position.
The position will evolve to a permanent position after 3 years for an excellent candidate.
